Our new bed is supposed to finally be delivered on Friday morning! woot! I will post photos of the complete bedroom once it is all set up.

Our new dresser/night stand arrived last week. It is part of a new ensemble we ordered for our bedroom. The bed has yet to arrive. I will post more photos once the whole set is all here. The furniture is really making the place look like an adult bedroom… instead of a dorm room. sweet!

I woke up to snow this morning. Lots of snow! More snow than I have ever seen in Eugene. We probably have six inches right now and it is still snowing. It is too warm for it to last long, but it is definitely a change of pace. There are a few more photos on Flickr.

Guess what we did last night… We ordered new bedroom furniture! I am very excited. It should all arrive right around my birthday. I will post pictures once we get our new bedroom all set up.

…and we found this note on our front door when we got back from Target last night. I hope it was tasty.
We have a handy man here today replacing the old windows in the basement. While he was removing one of the old window frames he found some newspaper used as spacer material. The newspaper used was from the June 16, 1927, edition of the Oregon Sunday Journal and the August 9, 1927 edition of The Eugene Guard. I feel bad removing windows that have been working fine for over 80 years, but they don’t really lock or keep out the elements. I will feel safer with new windows, but I will keep the old ones around just in case a future owner wants to restore the place accurately.

The painting is complete! The crew from Ash Painting did a great job. I would definitely recommend them. They were very attentive to detail and in some places they happily applied three coats of paint. They even painted the fence for us at no extra charge! Plus, they were all very nice and courteous.
Above, from left to right, is: Ian, Jeff, Corey, and Brian. To the left is Tony and Cori. Cori is the owner of Ash painting. If you need to have your house in the Eugene area painted and don’t know who to call, email me and I will send you Cori’s contact info.
I plan to take a bunch more photos once I can close all the doors and windows and put my mailbox and furniture back outside on the porch. Right now my trashcans are blocking off the porch, so it is not the most attractive time for the official portrait. However, I am extremely happy with the new color and I can’t wait until Travis gets home to see the completed project!

The painters are here again today finishing up the house. I think it is looking great! It is strange to see it in a new color, but I am pleased. The color seems a little bit peach, which I wasn’t expecting… However, it is really looking fresh and clean, which I love! Today they are just finishing up the trim and then painting the porch floor. I will take some nicer photos once it is totally complete.

I had a big plan to spend the month of august painting the exterior of our house. I told everyone I was going to do it on my own, and I really thought that I could tackle to project. Well… after a few solid work days of washing, scraping, and priming, I realized that it would take me approximately three years to finish the job. We decided to call a painting service.
We are using Ash Painting, a small local company that I found in the phone book. They started the job yesterday. The owner, Cori, is super-nice and the crew is working hard. We are going with a tan/beige color with white trim. It sounds a little boring, but it will be a huge improvement over the dingy white with gray trim.
These are the BEFORE photos. I should have AFTER photos by the end of the week!
The cute, little cottage has been causing some big, nasty headaches lately. Everything has been worked out, but in the last two weeks we had to deal with a squirrel getting in the house and the wastewater plumbing backing up into our basement. One of these little baby squirrels got into our house via the mail slot (we think). Travis went and bought a live trap and we have since covered the mail slot with a mailbox. The basement situation was a bit more complicated to fix. It was extremely disgusting having wastewater/sewage sitting on our basement floor. We had RotoRooter, a plumber, and a “professional recovery specialist” come out to do various things to get the basement back in shape. The city of Eugene happens to be replacing the wastewater sewer lines in our neighborhood this summer, so we are going to try to plan to get our lateral line replaced at the same time… depending on how expensive it is. It is not so fun to think of spending good money on something that will be buried under the yard…
